Hybrid Blended Deep Learning for Milk Quality Analysis:
This project supported by Science Foundation Ireland and the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine on behalf of the Government of Ireland VistaMilk Research Centre under grant no. 16/RC/3835 has achieved notable recognition. The PhD student supervised was a finalist for the National Dairy Awards 2024. The study presents a Hybrid Blended Deep Learning (HyBDL) approach for Milk Quality Analysis (MQA), which has shown high accuracy and reproducibility with low deviation scores. It was validated on resource-intensive edge devices, highlighting its potential for real-time MQA in dairy processing plants (R. U. Mhapsekar, N. O'Shea, S. Davy and L. Abraham, "Hybrid Blended Deep Learning Approach for Milk Quality Analysis," in IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence, vol. 8, no. 3, pp. 2253-2268, June 2024,
WESAT
Women Engineered SATellite: Funded by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), India, this project marks a significant milestone and gained national recognition. As the Principal Investigator, led the design and launch of India’s first women-only satellite payload, which was successfully launched into space on January 1st, 2024, on India’s 60th PSLV mission, PSLV-C58, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, India. This mission highlights gender diversity in STEM and empowers women in aerospace technology. The payload is designed to measure the intensity of ultraviolet radiation and solar irradiance in space, following the PSLV’s orbital trajectory at 350 Km above sea level
The Contextual Interface to IoT
Project emanated from research conducted with the financial support of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and Rambus Inc., USA. The project is co-funded under the European Regional Development Fund under grant number 13/RC/2077. As part of the project, a prototype is developed for hand tracking and gesture recognition using a Lensless Smart Sensor developed by Rambus Inc. Novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms were developed for the prototype. (Abraham, Lizy, Andrea Urru, Niccolò Normani, Mariusz P.
